What would YOU do with super powers?

Hiya folks.

Since I don't really have the time to finish a drawing this week and I haven't posted any rough stuff yet... here is some rough stuff.

I've been looking at the meriad ( I think that's how you spell that ) of wicked, wicked artists on Blogspot. When I find someone I like, I try to steal what I can from their styles. It obviously never ends up exactly like their's ( they're good for a reason ), but you learn soooo much doing it. So these 2 are "inspired" by Mathieu Reynès and Florian Satzinger. I HIGHLY recommend checking them out.

Cheers all,
Ren

Kuta attempt numéro deux

So after checking out all the awesomeness that people did for Cheeks' contest, I realised two things. Holy crap they're good, and they all did their's in their own style as opposed to Cheeks' ( ish ) like I tried to do.... soooooo.

Needless to say that I got back on the drawing board and came up with this piece.

What do you think?

Cheers,
Ren

Kuta : A Cheeky Contest

Sean "Cheeks" Galloway has a contest going on for his Kuta character. This would be my first attempt at an entry. I think I'll only be able to make another one which is too bad 'cause this is fun.

Hope you liiiiiiike.

Particle Man

I was just introduced to the whole Particle Man song by They Might Be Giants. It screamed to be sketched. So instead of going deaf from the screaming, I thought I'd give it a try.

Hope you like it.

Cheers,
Ren

Particle man, Particle Man
Doing things a particle can
What's he like? it's not important
Particle Man
Is he a dot, or is he a speck?
When he's underwater, does he get wet?
Or does the water get him instead?
Nobody knows, Particle Man
Triangle Man, Triangle Man
Triangle Man hates Partical Man
The have a fight, Triangle wins
Triangle Man
Universe Man, Universe Man
Size of the entire Universe Man
Usually kind to smaller man
Universe Man
He's got a watch with a minute hand,
Millenium hand, and an eon hand
When they meet it's a happy land
Powerful man, Universe Man
Person Man, Person Man
Hit on the head with a frying pan
Lives his life in a garbage can
Person Man
Is he depressed, or is he a mess?
Does he feel totally worthless?
Who came up with Person Man?
Degraded man, Person Man
Triangle Man, Triangle Man
Triangle Man hates Person Man
They have a fight, Triangle wins
Triangle Man

Scooting away

Work has started up again so I don't have the time I'd want to put on drawing anymore, but I'm still pushing forward... just a little slower.

I became a gradient and blur whore in this one. I may have overdone it, or I may not... I'm kind of tired right now and can't really tell.

On that note, good night everybody.

Cheers,
Ren

Get that girl

I thougth I'd play with gradients for colouring and shading on this one. Here's the cleanup too. Why not, right?

Now to go enjoy the beautifull day outside since I've been hiding out in my cave for the past couple of weeks drawing up a storm.

After that, mooore drawing ( who am I kidding, it's like a drug ).

Cheerios,
Ren

Bloody

I'm still playing with the new Photoshop ways. I'm starting to get the hang of it but now it's taking that much longer to figure out what I want to do with a picture since my options are that much more varied. And with taxe time, a house to tend to, a cat that can't live without my attention, and other distractions, single drawings are taking more time than ever before.

Hope you like though,
Ren

Potty humour

One of my good friends at work ( Steve Cheyne ), who is also a Photoshop guru, gave me pointers at how to paint in Photoshop.

This is a quick doodle I made to try out his technique and make sure I didn't forget too much of it. Apparently I didn't. It wasn't cleaned properly to really get the full use of his colouring method but I understand it enough to use it.

I only realised after how relevant the drawing was. We've all been faced with the fearsome unknown, and this is kind of how I felt getting lectured on a software I thought I knew enough to get around... nah!

Thanks Steve, wherever you are.

Cheers,
Ren
